Marketing research that takes periodic measurements of the impact of an advertising campaign. While the goal of most advertising is to increase sales (and activity), there are many factors that can affect sales. Moreover, some advertisers judge the effectiveness of advertising by other criteria. The variables tracked are: unaided brand awareness, aided brand awareness, advertising awareness, playback, and proven recall.
